August 2025 Mix and Match! I did a rain dance and now we have a hosepipe ban. Sorry about that! We welcome Carol and Liz as new members – we are now 50.
There is no meeting in August, but many will be able to meet and chat while enjoying a cuppa and cake on Wednesday 13 August in my garden. Tickets are still available £3.50. Please bring a chair if possible.
Tracy Strain and Catherine Blaxhall, Chair and Vice Chair of the Oxfordshire Federation of WIs will be there for you to meet. There will be a raffle and a Quiz done by Ann. Jubilee Group meeting tickets will also be available at £5.00. The Speaker is exceptional, so don’t miss it.
The last Oxfordshire Inspires magazine from OFWI was a double issue. Please have another look at your copy and make sure you don’t miss out on events and outings.
Welfare Officer: contact Hilary about members who are poorly and might like a visit? We try very hard to make sure our members are valued.

A possible walking group Doreen is piloting a WI walking group. The first date is Sunday 27 July. Meet by the outdoor swimming pool in the Abbey Meadows. A short walk is planned followed by tea/cake at the Riverside Cafe on Abingdon bridge (formerly Annie’s).
Book Library Moving all the books into the coffee room at the July meeting worked well and created a lot of buzz.
Please continue to buy the second hand books and to borrow from Janet’s book library.
Coffee Club Sunday 3rd August at Coffee Aroma, High Street, Abingdon from 2pm onwards. All welcome.
Craft Group Friday 25 July at 2pm at Northcourt Centre, making “Izzy Dolls‘’. Contact Hilary. No craft meeting in August.
Art Group Every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at Northcourt Centre. Contact Viv.
September monthly meeting Tuesday 9 September. There will be a talk by Chris Strata on ‘’Leprosy, a disease of
poverty’’. Please bring a piece of FRUIT or VEG for our popular raffle.
We need a member to sell Jubilee Group meeting tickets at our September meeting – please help.
Jubilee Group Meeting Monday 29 September in Drayton Village Hall at 7.30 pm. The speaker is Lesley Smith – Historian aka Boudicca. Tickets £5 on sale now – don’t miss this! Our WI is responsible for the sales table at this meeting and we need two volunteers to man it – please help!
