Abingdon Fitzharrys WI’s December monthly meeting was an interactive musical Christmas celebration with help from the Abingdon Music Centre. The craft taster session at November’s Monthly meeting found members absorbed and busy trying out the variety of crafts on offer at four different tables. Abingdon Fitzharrys members have a chance to join an outing to the New Theatre, Oxford for a matinee performance of the Oxford Operatic Society’s production of Oliver. The performance is on Saturday 3rd February 2024. Put your name on the list at the next meeting if you would like tickets.
September’s meeting welcomed not only beekeeper David Busby but some of his bees as well. He is an enthusiastic and informative speaker who told us that he is living the dream doing the job he loves. Members also had a chance to browse David’s honey and beeswax products.
The rain didn’t dampen spirits on the annual Abingdon Fitzharrys August outing this year to Greys Court, a National Trust property near Henley-on-Thames. Everyone came armed with raincoats and umbrellas and were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds as much as the interesting historic interior.
The annual July garden party at Trine’s house managed to dodge the showers and was enjoyed by all. There were colourful summer outfits, home baked refreshments and a treasure hunt, raffle and sales table. As well as an opportunity to sit and chat with friends in charming surroundings.

Abingdon Fitzharrys used their monthly meeting on Tuesday 9th May to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. There was an Abingdon Town Crier in full regalia, special Coronation cupcakes, royal poems, a rendition of five verses of “God Save the King” and much more.
