Collage craft session

Abingdon Fitzharrys WI’s November monthly meeting saw members tackling a completely new craft challenge together. The task was to create a collage, using pictures they cut out from magazines, in the style of 16th century Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who was known for creating imaginative portraits from arrangements of fruits, vegetables, flowers and other objects, as you can see from the example below.

Members took to the challenge with gusto and there was an excited hum in the room, and not a little laughter, as everyone took to cutting and sticking collaboratively to build up their pictures.

Judy, the Abingdon Fitzharrys member who was leading the workshop, said that the aim of the exercise was not necessarily the end result but to have fun creating something together.  It is clear from the photos below that members not only enjoyed the challenge but created some striking and original images.
