February 2020 newsletter

At the Committee meeting we went through our new, exciting programme for 2020/21 which includes another visit from Jeff Rozelaar – the “Bagels and Bacon” man – who will tell us some more fascinating stories, this time about Sir Winston Churchill. There will be Jenny’s walk each month,  Art and Craft, a speaker virtually every month as well as a variety of social time activities and another Christmas Celebration. The outings planned are Christmas shopping at Aston Pottery, a new musical at The Watermill and in the a summer a Garden Party and  the usual Summer Outing in August. Excellent value for money, I think you will agree. A big thank you to Denise for getting it organised.

Denise knows a local young man, Gary Hibbins (an Abingdon family name I’m told) whom she has invited to tell us all about The Bridge in Abingdon at Tuesday’s meeting. I think you will enjoy his presentation. After refreshments there will be a quiz.

You will be interested to know that your 2 most popular WI resolutions were :-  End Modern Slavery (9 votes) and Save Precious Helium (7 votes); Viv has posted your choices to Tackley and we await the decision of all members, nationwide, to see whether we agree.

Tickets will be available on Tuesday for the Jubilee Group Meeting on 27th April  at Drayton Village Hall to listen to Anne Boleyn (Lesley Smith in role) tell you all about her somewhat exciting life and death for only £4.  (We went by bus to Tutbury Castle to see her in role as Mary Queen of Scots. Remember?)

I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Moira
