Dear All

at last things are slowly opening up and our lives are beginning to return to normal. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can start thinking about returning to the Northcourt Centre for our meetings.

I was pleased to see so many members at our first Zoom monthly meeting on 8 April and I hope you all enjoyed it. The subject of the talk was Christ Church Cathedral and it has been suggested that we look into arranging a visit there later in the year.

You will have read in this month’s issue of Oxfordshire Inspires that “Earlier Recognition of Ovarian Cancer” will be the Resolution going forward to the NFWI Annual Meeting this year, although voting will take place online in July. However, we still need to discuss all three resolution options at this month’s meeting and this will be followed by a quiz.

Looking head to our AGM in June, it has been agreed that, due to these strange times, the current committee will continue for another year, but if anyone wishes to join us please let me or Hilary know.

Now that the weather has started to improve, and most of us will have had our second vaccination, we may be able to meet in the Abbey Grounds in May for tea. In July we are planning to have our annual garden party.

Our summer outing this year will be on Tuesday 10 August; Hilary has arranged for us to visit Blewbury Manor for a tour of the garden followed by tea and cakes.

You may recall we were asked by the Oxfordshire Federation to write a short article for the Round&About magazine about Abingdon Fitzharrys WI for the June issue. A big “thank you“ to all of you who sent in poems, stories and artwork . On our behalf Val has created an Interesting article about all we do at Abingdon Fitzharrys and this has now gone to the printers .

I hope to see you all on line at our meeting next month on Tuesday 11 May at 1.30 pm.

In the meantime stay safe and keep well.
Best Wishes
Moira.
