November 2018 newsletter

Dear All

This month’s reminder is slightly earlier than usual because I am going on holiday on Thursday and I will not be able to attend our next meeting.  I do apologise for that!

On Tuesday the speaker will be Martin Green from Radio Cherwell Hospital Radio who I am sure will be very interesting.  There will be a sales table so please bring along anything which you would like to donate to the sales table but please no more books for the time being.  We need to get rid of the vast number of books which we have accumulated over the past few months so all  books will be 50 pence each or 3 for £1 – just the thing for these dark winter evenings.  On Tuesday you will need to add your name to the list for the Christmas dinner if you want to attend.  Menu choices and payment must please be made at that meeting as we have to confirm numbers to the Ock Mill.

At our December meeting we will be having our usual collection for the homeless so any toiletries, socks, hats, gloves etc as previously will be gratefully received.  Also at our Christmas party meeting we will be having a tombola so we would like donations for that too please.  Last month’s raffle raised £22, the sales table £6 and tea and coffee £7.50 so thank you to everyone who contributed to any of those.

The 2019 programme is coming together nicely but, as ever, if you have anything you would like to add please let one of the committee members know.

The November monthly lunch will be at the Boundary House on Tuesday 20 November – meet there at about 12 or 12.15 for a 12.30 lunch. Please see Viv Cadge for more details if interested.  I do not yet have details for Jenny’s monthly walk but I’m sure Hilary will give those out at the meeting.
Abingdon Fitzharrys WI Social Sub Committee are arranging a coffee morning on Saturday 24 November 2018 from 10.30 until 12.30 at Northcourt Centre

Please come along for coffee, cake and chat – its only £3.  Bring your friends and relatives too.

Hope to see you there.

As usual, don’t forget to pick up your copy of News and Views if you do not have it delivered.  There are lots of interesting things in it this month and lots of nice trips to go on in 2019.

Monday 3 December is the date for Christmas Songs at Didcot Civic Hall so if you are interested please see Barbara.

OFWI centenary raffle tickets will be on sale on Tuesday evening – £1 each and you could be lucky enough to win the grand prize of £500.  The Home and Garden Craft Competition 2019 is to Make A Brooch so come on all you talented members – its only £2 to enter.  Closing date 30 November and your completed brooch should arrive at Tackley by Friday 22 February 2019 so plenty of time to get creative.

I hope you all have a lovely evening on the 13 November and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Christmas Lunch on 7 December or at our Christmas meeting on 11 December.
