November 2019 newsletter

Dear Friends

As a result of the Northcourt Open Day we are delighted to welcome several new members. It is time to have a New Members Evening get together, so this is now in the pipeline.

At the November meeting, following a short business meeting, there will be four different craft activities for you to try out – origami, creating a Christmas card, making small gift bags and felt work.  All materials are provided but if you have a Pritt stick and paper scissors please bring them with you. There will be a sales table for books, jigsaws and games.

Any items for the Christmas tombola would be most welcome. It will be the last opportunity to sign up for the Christmas lunch on 6 December – see Anne.

Thank you to all the members offering to be involved in our Christmas Celebration on 10 December. Mince pies made by our members along with mulled wine will be provided. It looks like being a good evening with a guest celebrity to entertain us and a musician to accompany us with the singing.

Trine Lucy, Abingdon Fitzharrys member and Chairman of  the Oxfordshire Federation’s WISHH ( World in Science, Heritage and History – see page 7 in the News & Views magazine) and her team are responsible for the organisation of the Caribbean and Windrush Generation Day at Benson Village Hall on Wednesday 27 November. It looks like being a most informative and interesting day. Please support it. £20 with lunch – transport can be arranged.

Thank you for your support and contribution to our WI as we begin preparing for the busiest time of the year. I’ve just made my 7th Christmas cake and Ann P. is busy making jewellery and cushions in support of Shippon Church’s Advent Fayre on Saturday 23 November at 1.30 pm. Please join us.

I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.

Moira.
