March 2026 Newsletter
March 2026
First day of Spring this Sunday!
Here’s to the next big WI Birthday – 60 years and still growing! A huge thank you for all help, donations, and much more to make it such a memorable event. We pulled out all the stops and it worked. Special thank you to Liz
for the fabulous cake.
With March comes a new Committee and an election and the popular Fruit and Vegetable Raffle. It is lovely that so many relatively new members are already actively taking part. Our new exciting programme for 2026 – 27 will be available for you to pick up in April.
I attended the Northcourt Centre Committee AGM recently on your behalf. The most urgent need is a NEW roof.
Grants are being applied for, however other fundraising events are needed. Please help if you can and spread the word. The building, like our Wl, started life in the 60s and will need further TLC.
Welfare Officer Hilary. Members who are poorly and might like a visit? We try very hard to keep in touch with you all.
Lunch Club: Tuesday 17 March 17 at 12.30 pm at the Spread Eagle. Contact Pauline.
Walking group It is hoped this will resume when the water dries up. Living in hope!
Coffee Club Sunday 1 March 2pm onwards at Coffee Aroma, High Street, Abingdon.
Craft group Friday 27 February. A session on Fused Glass which is fully booked. Contact Hilary.
Art Group Every 2nd and 4th Monday at Northcourt Centre. Contact Viv.
Next monthly meeting Tuesday 10 March is our AGM. Please bring a piece of fruit or a vegetable to donate to our
raffle.
After tea/coffee there will be a short presentation by Jane Finnerty who is the Oxfordshire Federation’s rep for ACWW
(Associated Country Women of the World). Come and find out how the WI continue to support this important link worldwide.
Jubilee Group meeting Tuesday 28 April at 2pm in Drayton Village Hall ‘’Pandemonium entertains”
Preloved Sale to raise funds for the Northcourt Centre New Roof Appeal on Sunday 8 March 12 – 3pm (set up from 11 am) £5 per table. Contact: sumi.patel@icloud.com.
