Craft Group

The Craft Group will meet for the first time in 2020 on Friday 31 January at 2 pm at Hilary’s house.

The last meeting of the Craft Group in 2019 was on Friday 22 November, when the group made Christmas boxes and Christmas tree themed cards.

In March members of the craft group continued with the “crazy patchwork” projects which they began in January.  Pictured here is Val’s work in progress which she’s hoping to use as the basis for a cushion cover or wall hanging.

In the run up to Christmas, the craft group made tree decorations from cardboard and Christmas fabric, with fabulous tassels and gold braid trimmings.  They used them to great effect on the Christmas branches which decorated the hall at the Christmas party.

The group was formed in the autumn of 2017 and meets monthly, usually on a Friday afternoon.  A variety of crafts have been attempted, including

  • rag wreaths
  • christmas table decorations
  • crochet
  • jewellery
  • a flower arrangement in a teacup

Meetings are held in members homes and these afternoons have proved to be very friendly and sociable.

Abingdon Fitzharrys WI is fortunate to have some very gifted members who have helped the Craft Group to attempt new skills.
