Announcement: Update on membership rules in light of UK Supreme Court judgment It is with the utmost sadness that we must announce that from April 2026 we can no longer offer formal membership to transgender women. We are doing this to ensure we’re compliant with the law in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling earlier this year that the legal definition of a woman can refer only to biological sex. As our Chair Jeryl Stone explains, we deeply regret having to make this decision. This is not something we would do unless we felt that we had no other choice. The link to our full statement is https://www.thewi.org.uk/media-centre/press-releases We are here to support all our members with this news which we know will be extremely painful. If you would like support, have questions or concerns please contact us at inclusion@nfwi.org.uk or by phone to 020 7371 9300.
