March 2021 newsletter

Dear All
I hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to the spring; 2020 was a very challenging time for us all.

On the bright side, with the end of lockdown in sight and the government’s plans to slowly start opening things up, we can look at planning ahead. But I think it will be September/October before we are able to hold our monthly meetings in the Northcourt Centre, though I hope we can hold our annual garden party in July.

In February the committee decided to try holding their meeting on Zoom. It worked, and thanks to Val and Marcus Smith for setting this up on our behalf.  We would like your opinion about us starting to hold our monthly meetings on Zoom. We are suggesting we all meet for a Zoom meeting on 9 March at 7pm and hope as many of you as possible can join us. You don’t have to have Zoom but can join with the link we send you. It would be good to know how many of you will be joining again!

In March we should be thinking about our AGM, which we hope to hold on Zoom. It has been suggested that in these very strange times the current committee stand for another year – this of course is subject to your approval at our AGM; if there are any members who would like to join the committee please let Hilary or me know.

You will have read in OFWI ‘s monthly magazine that Catherine Blaxhall is standing down as OFWI’s Chairman. Christine Denton and Trine Lucy are also both leaving after many years of loyal service to the Board.
Hilary and I will be attending OFWI’s AGM on Thursday 25 March.

It was lovely to see the sunshine today, the snowdrops and crocuses coming out, bringing us much hope for the future. Stay safe, be positive and keep well, I look forward to seeing you all on 9 March.
Best wishes
Moira.
