New members coffee morning

On a mission to give a warm welcome to new members of Abingdon Fitzharrys WI, Trine and the committee hosted a coffee morning for them in the Morgan Room at Northcourt Centre this month.  Over tea, coffee and delicious home made cake, in a relaxed atmosphere, there was a chance to understand about the organisation of the WI at county and at national level and to have some of those confusing acronyms explained. Members of the committee chatted about their own WI experiences and the emphasis was on how members could get the most out of being part of Abingdon Fitzharrys WI. The new members, who ranged from those who were completely new to the WI, to returners and “multis” (those belonging to more than one WI), also shared their experiences and their reasons for joining.  The committee hope that friendly get togethers like this will help to make new members feel more at home and plan to make them a regular feature.
