November 2022 newsletter

Published by AbingdonFitzharrysWI on

Hello again,
we are already gearing up for Christmas – it comes around a bit too often for my liking. The October monthly meeting was a noisy affair – I do hope some of you picked up a tip or two. We had two visitors, Kate and Joan, who we hope will join us in the new year. A big thank you to all of you who donated to our collection for the food bank.

We are now deregistered as charity with the Charities Commission, as our income is well below the stipulated £5000.

We are looking for a design for a logo for our WI.  It would be wonderful if one of our members came up with an idea that could represent Abingdon Fitzharrys.  It needs to be something simple that fits into a small circle. Please do have a go.  All the information you need is on page 7 of the Oxford Inspires magazine received by all members. If you want to see the logo we are using at the moment, check out our Facebook page. Don’t forget that you can google Abingdon Fitzharrys WI Facebook page, even if you are not on Facebook yourself.

The first meeting of the new Craft club went very well and some lovely cards were made. There is space for one or two more members. The next meeting is on Friday 25 November at 1 pm in the Morgan Room at Northcourt Centre and we shall be making Christmas decorations with fabric.

Sunday 6 November  2pm – coffee and chat in the Aroma coffee shop

Tuesday 8 November – for our next monthly meeting we welcome Tony Strafford, retired Yeoman of the Guard in full costume with all his stories about the Tower of London. Visitors welcome. Bring a friend.

Saturday 19 November – Ceilidh fundraiser for the Centre at Northcourt Centre. Tickets £10 with a bring and share supper. For more information email jenny.ward@draweven.co.uk

Friday 2 December – Abingdon Fitzharrys WI Christmas lunch at the Cosener’s House. Choose your menu options and pay at the November meeting please.

Tuesday 13 December – our Christmas meeting. We have musical entertainment, a tombola and much more. Please donate suitable tombola prizes.

Monday 28 January 2023 – trip to see Evita at the Oxford Playhouse. I’ll be bringing tickets for those who ordered them to the November meeting.
Take care, all the best
Trine
