December 2020 newsletter

Dear All,
Looking towards Christmas, on Tuesday 8 December we have arranged to hold our Christmas giving for the Abingdon Food Bank and local homeless charities, in the Northcourt Centre car park between 11 am and 12.30 pm (we have been given permission by the Centre management). The Food Bank has asked for NO Pasta or Soup and I suggest toiletries for the homeless.  Please come along and support us, but if you are unable to make it I would be happy to collect any donations.
It has been a very strange time for us all, but despite everything, we did manage a couple of picnics in the Abbey Grounds, enjoyed by us all, and our monthly Coffee Club continued to meet.

Thanks to OFWI for creating the online News & Views, with its the many talks and workshops and also for the introduction of “Oxfordshire Inspires” available either online or in print. I felt they helped us all to still feel a part of the WI.

During the year our website has been continuously updated – a special thank you to Maria. If you haven’t viewed the website, it’s well worth a look.

Sadly we can’t hold our annual Christmas party, but at the first opportunity the committee are planning to organise a Celebration Tea Party.  Maybe it won’t be too long before we are able have the vaccine and we can think about restarting our meetings in the New Year.

I would like to thank all the committee for their hard work throughout the year; it has been a pleasure working with you and without your support and enthusiasm keeping me focused, I would have been at a loss.

I know this year Christmas is going to be very different for us all, though I do hope many of you will be able to get together with your families; and some of us, like me, might catch up with our families on Zoom! In the meantime stay safe and keep well,Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas and a bright New Year.

Moira.
