Knitting display

The June meeting featured a colourful display, coordinated by Val, of the handiwork of the busy knitters of Abingdon Fitzharrys WI.  Items knitted include blankets and hats for the Special Care Babies Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital and so-called “Fish and Chip” jumpers, which will be sent to countries in Africa. There they will be given to very small newborns to keep them warm on leaving hospital.  These tiny jumpers get their name from the newspaper which was often used to wrap the babies when nothing better was available.
