June 2023 newsletter

Published by AbingdonFitzharrysWI on

Hello again,
here comes summer!  About 30 members had a very jovial May meeting when John Crowley, one of Abingdon’s Town Criers came to talk to us.  Who knew that Oh Yey comes from Oreilles the French word for ‘ears’? So much interesting history about Abingdon and the Town Criers.
A big thank you to Judy who made royal cupcakes and of course to Liz for the poem about the three Kings named Charles. Five verses of ‘God Save the King’ was a revelation.
While we are on singing it seems there is a majority who want to sing Jerusalem at the start of our meetings so it’s here to stay it seems.
We welcomed Doreen as a visitor who would like to join us.
How about a book group? Would anyone like to help set one up?
