May 2022 Newsletter
Dear Friends
Gosh how time flies!!
A big thank you to all those who re- joined last month and a very big welcome to our two new members. Do chat to the new faces please, so they don’t feel alone. We hope to welcome more new members in the coming months. The WI is a great way to make friends.
I am thrilled that Judy Claydon has agreed to become our Treasurer. Anne has kindly offered to guide her through the first few months.
We now have a Facebook page up and running again and Maria is keeping our website up to date. Technology is here to stay and we have to encourage younger members to join us and take the WI forward. All the details are on the new programme emailed to you by Hilary.
On Tuesday 10 May we will welcome Jeff Rozelaar with the second part of his talk on Winston Churchill. Sadly I missed part one, but I’ve been told he was excellent.
We will have a short discussion on the National Federation of WI’s campaigning resolution for this year and a subsequent vote. The resolution is:
Women and Girls with ASD & ADHD – under-identified, under-diagnosed, misdiagnosed, under-supported
Thursday 2 June (Jubilee Bank Holiday) we will have a table at Rye Farm as part of Abingdon’s Jubilee Celebrations. We are URGENTLY looking to borrow a pop up GAZEBO. Can you help ?
Tuesday 14 June we will continue the Diamond Jubilee celebrations at our regular monthly meeting with a tea- party, followed by a flower workshop, making a small arrangement in a jam jar or similar.
We have 10 interested in a craft group. Watch this space.
There is a drop in coffee club every 1st Sunday of the month at 2 pm – 4pm at Coffee Aroma on the High Street in Abingdon.
Walking group Jenny Jones will resume organising a monthly walk soon. Many have had Covid and are still recovering.
Keep safe
All the best
Trine
