October 2023 newsletter

Hello again,
there is a definite chill in the air now, but always the hope of a few more warm sunny days before winter sets in.
We all enjoyed meeting the bees at the last meeting. So much still to learn and weren’t those Queen bees that arrived in the post incredible?
The raffle of fruit and vegetables proved popular, we will certainly do that again!
We welcomed Wendy and Janet as new members and Jan and Margaret as visitors. We now have 42 members
We will have a final try with music to accompany Jerusalem – thank you to Jean for the technology. And a big
thank you to you all for your help with manning the various tables,  with refreshments etc.

Sunday 1 October – coffee club 2 pm at Coffee Aroma, High Street, Abingdon. All welcome.

Monday 2 October – Jubilee Group meeting at Drayton Village Hall. Speaker local author Julie Summers.

Art Group – continues to meet every 2nd and 4th Monday morning of the month in the Morgan Room at Northcourt Centre. Interested? Contact Viv Lowe.

Monday 16 October – lunch club meeting at 12.30 pm in the Spread Eagle, Northcourt Road. Interested? Contact Pauline Claridge.

Friday 27 October – craft club meeting at Northcourt Centre. Interested? Contact Trine Lucy.

Saturday 21 October –  7.30pm fundraising ceilidh for Northcourt Centre at Northcourt Centre. £10 a ticket plus a bring and share supper. Interested? Call Jenny on 01235 525843

Our next monthly meeting on Tuesday 10 October will feature a highly recommended talk on penicillin by Marie Louise Kerr.

Our Christmas meeting is on Tuesday 12 December and will feature musical entertainment and a tombola. Please start collecting suitable items for the tombola.

Friday 8 December Christmas lunch at Cosener’s House. We have 25 names down with room for a couple more.
Time to make your menu choice. £25 in cash please.

Saturday 3 February Oliver! Matinee at the New Theatre. Tickets £20. Names only requires at the moment –  no money yet.
